INVITATION FOR DISTANCE LEARNING PROGRAM
“Legal French: Section 2”
In the framework of the Lifelong Learning Program of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki a training program is being offered during the current academic year 2016-2017 entitled “Legal French: Section 2”.
The purpose of the program is to familiarize students and legal professionals with the French language in a legal context and to improve competency in the French language for anyone interested in continuing postgraduate studies or working in French-speaking countries.
The training program is divided into three sections, lasting 450 hours in total. This invitation relates to the second section. Upon completion, information concerning subsequent sections will follow.
Each section lasts approximately three months. The content of Section 2 is as follows:
Section 2 (150 hours):
- Law of the European Union
- International law
- Labor law
The main objective of the seminar is to improve written and oral competency through the use of original, legal texts. Specifically, participants will have the opportunity to absorb legal vocabulary using authentic texts related to actual communication skills in the workplace.
In addition, the seminar concentrates on competency development in regard to structure analysis and the production of various written and oral expressions included in the field of law.
Furthermore, the participants will have the opportunity to assimilate the appropriate language knowledge in order to successfully communicate in professional as well as academic circumstances such as employment searches or the completion of an adaptation period to take an aptitude test or complete postgraduate studies abroad in order to increase their effectiveness.
Specifically, the program aims to improve competency and knowledge acquisition in the French language required for the entrance exams in the National School for Magistrates, for the Notaries’ competition as well as for the candidates’ preparation for the acquisition of Diplôme de français professionnel juridique B2 of Chambre de commerce et d’industrie - Paris Île-de-France.
The seminar is geared toward those holding a law degree and for those who desire to improve their competency in the French language in the area of Law.
In addition, the program can be attended by educators of the French language who are interested in specific themes related to the French language of Law.
In order to participate in this course the required level of knowledge for this course is B1/B2, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
The program will be conducted in accordance with the principles of distance learning. The participants should have sufficient knowledge of computer use (Word, Internet, Skype).
The second seminar will take place from December 10, 2016 until March 31, 2017, lasting 150 hours in total.
The cost is estimated at 380 euros per section in two payments. The two payments are d150 EUR and 230 EUR.
A 15% discount on the cost of the third section will be granted to the participants attending all three sections.
The Assistant Professor of the School of French Mrs Evangelia Mousouri will tutor the program along with other associates of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and other foreign associates, whose doctorate studies, research activity and teaching experience relate to the seminar’s content.
Upon successful completion of the program, participants will obtain:
(α) Certificate of attendance
(β) Certificate of learning (ECTS).
